Exam Results — 2012
Exam results have been rising year-on-year at Severn Vale School, but this year has exceeded even our high expectations. I am delighted for the students who have worked so hard. They deserve all the success they have achieved
Students in 2012 achieved:
- 89% 5 or more A*-C grades
- 65% 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths
- 21% 3 or more A*-A grades
- 97% 5 or more A*-G grades
In a year which has seen a fall nationally in GCSE results Severn Vale School has cemented its reputation as one of the most improved schools in Gloucestershire by celebrating its best ever set of exam results. Exceeding the challenging targets that had been set, some 65% of students gained five or more GCSEs (grade A* — C including English and Maths), with 89% gaining overall 5+ GCSEs (A* — C).
Headteacher Peter Rowland commented:
“Exam results have been rising year-on-year at Severn Vale School, but this year has exceeded even our high expectations. I am delighted for the students who have worked so hard. They deserve all the success they have achieved”.
“Today’s record-breaking performance is down to a simple but highly effective recipe: skilful teaching, motivated students, an appropriate curriculum, dedicated teaching and support staff who go the extra mile, supportive parents and governors and finally, to quote Mo Farah, lots of hard work and sheer graft”.
Work at the school was continuing on progression routes, ensuring that each Year 11 student progresses to the next stage of their learning, either at a Post 16 institution or in a job with clear training opportunities.
