The Studio Orchestra - Music of Hans Zimmer

On the evening of Friday 15th September, the music department had the pleasure of taking 14 of our year 10 and year 11 students to a concert featuring the unmistakable orchestral film music of Hans Zimmer (the most prolific film composer actively writing award-winning music) performed by a professional orchestra at the Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse. The orchestra performed to a capacity audience of 2000 people with a programme including music from Interstellar, Inception, and even Kung-Fu Panda and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The students’ top three favourite performances were ‘Time’, from ‘Inception’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, and ‘Gladiator’.
The performances were accompanied by stunning ambient lighting designs which complimented the music. Our own Mr Khokher was playing trombone in The Studio Orchestra making the evening even more of an occasion.
The orchestra and conductor were fantastic and deserved their double standing ovation.
All students were a real credit to the school, demonstrating exemplary behaviour, and excellent attitude and mature conduct throughout the trip and everyone enjoyed the experience of seeing a live orchestra – for some this was their first experience of seeing and hearing a live orchestra. Thank you to those students for making the evening so thoroughly enjoyable. We hope to be able to offer more memorable experiences of this kind to more students in the future.
