The aim of the session was to provide careers insight as well as to offer tips in performance and composition to aid their coursework. Nathan is a composer and sound designer with extensive industry knowledge, and Oscar (one of our Severn Vale alumni) has recently been signed to an agency following his attendance at drama school and is breaking into the Musicals performance industry. Students were able to ask insightful questions during the Q&A session about how the professionals started and continued their love for Music and succeed in the industry. They also heard a fabulous performance from Oscar followed by an outstanding composition demonstration from Nathan; he showed how he uses different tools to start composing musical ideas and developed them live for students to see creative thinking in practice. To share best practice with musicians who have 'been where they are' is a fantastic opportunity for them now, as well as to allow students to see where this could lead post 16 and beyond. There is no doubt that this has been highly inspirational and encouraging to improve and develop their own work.
